Adieu

K Marsala

Everyone has their personal lists of things they would like to bid adieu too at the end of each year

Not that my list will be any better or hold more truth than yours. Nevertheless, it is my list as a commentator on cultural, political and society that I pronounce mine  forward- feel free to disagree, agree or add on if you desire.

Things I would definitely like to say adios permanently to- for they I feel have been of no benefit:

Media/TV:

Dan Rather, Mary Mapes, Bill O Reilly, CBS, Reality Shows.

Dan Rather, Mary Mapes, and CBS all fall together into one big event that really I believe told the story of how the media has an agenda.  The biased opinions being sold as truth were laid before the American public open and bare.  Dan has now retired, Mapes is still defending her bad choice and peddling her book on CNN, and CBS perhaps has learned a thing or two.

I can hear the scratching of heads over me adding in Bill O’Reilly to a list of those I would like to see gone with 2005.  I think Mr. O’Reilly had at one time truly a “No Spin Zone,” but as I have watched his show regularly, he appears to be caught up into too much of “Bill’s spin.”  The bloviating at times is all O’Reilly’s opinion and little else.  As a viewer of the show, I believe he has gotten away from his original formula.  If he goes back to being the “No Spin Zone” then great- we need him and his talents.

Reality shows- come on do I really need to explain this one?  Do we not already live in reality? Why do we need to watch loser unemployed actors who are drunk, having sex with anything that moves and spilling their emotional baggage on us?  As well, why do we need to watch anyone do any of these things?  Wasn't TV created to be an escape from it all or are our own lives so pathetic that we need to watch the suffering of others to make ourselves feel better?

Politicians:

John Kerry, Howard Dean

To the vacillator, Sen. Kerry, I would like to say au revoir forever.  He cannot make up his mind or maybe he can- before he changed it.  Lest we forget too, his comments on CBS’s Face the Nation I believe were inexcusable;  And there is no reason, Bob, that young American soldiers need to be going into the homes of Iraqis in the dead of night, terrorizing kids and children, you know, women, breaking sort of the customs of the--of--the historical customs, religious customs. Whether you like it or not...” Sen. John Kerry.

Howard “HeeeeYaaaaWWW!!!” Dean- you gotta love the guy for his candor, honesty and ability to open mouth and insert foot.  Honestly, at least you do know where he stands politically, but his speaking of mind before thinking has placed him on the list of those who need to go- bye, bye.  His declaration that, "the idea that we're going to win the war in Iraq is an idea which is just plain wrong” has landed this   Democratic National Committee Chairman flat faced in the mud.  Along with Nancy Pelosi and John Murtha and many of the other cohorts have done little to help our military force win, their comments have only aided and abetted the enemy.

Entertainment:

Paris Hilton, Michael Jackson, Kayne West, Britany Spears, Tom Cruise

Do these entertainers really need explanation?  Paris Hilton- girl put away the camera and get a real job and a life.  M. J., whatever really happened to his brilliant talent? I hope he never returns to sharing his bed anyone.  Kayne West- just a loud mouth looking to sell his wares.  Britany Spears- someone get her into therapy- she needs to find out who she really is. Tom Cruise- used to be Top Gun on my list of hunks, but his whole persona has becoming disturbingly troubled.

Anti-War Ranters:

Howard Dean, John Kerry, Cindy Sheehan, most of the entertainment industry.

It will take more than 9-11; the beheading of Nicholas Berg;  terrorism in Bali; the London terrorist bombing (July 7th) to help these imbeciles get a clue.

Religious Leaders:

Jerry Falwell and Jesse Jackson

These two men may feel they walk with God, but it appears to me they live to walk in front of a camera.

Civil Liberty Action Organizations:

The American Civil Liberties Union or ACLU

This organization continues to baffle me.  The ACLU states they are defenders of free speech:

“The mission of the ACLU is to preserve all of these protections and guarantees:

Your First Amendment rights-freedom of speech, association, and assembly. Freedom of the press, and freedom of religion supported by the strict separation of church and state.

Your right to equal protection under the law - equal treatment regardless of race, sex, religion or national origin.

Your right to due process - fair treatment by the government whenever the loss of your liberty or property is at stake.

Your right to privacy - freedom from unwarranted government intrusion into your personal and private affairs.”

Seems the ACLU has selective speech choices as they continually attack anything with a religious tone or flavor.

As Americans, we need our civil liberties protected not silenced by those who want to stomp out freedom of speech when it comes to Christianity.

It would appear the  ACLU has forgotten this statement: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.” - First Amendment, U.S. Constitution

Fashion:

Baggy Pants, short tops with bellies hanging out, and the “Toni and Guy” cookie cutter haircuts.

Education:

No Child Left Behind

This has become nothing more than a nightmare.  Teaching to the test, mounds of paperwork, twelve-hour days, no weekends, and substandard pay.  What insane person would pay for years of college to join?  Yes, our educational system must be held to a higher standard, but we are killing our educators and limiting the education of our children by utilizing a very flawed idea.

Lawyers:

Ramsey Clark

He makes me scratch my head and say, a few extra prayers at night- frankly he scares me to death.  His line up that he defends makes him a mad man.  He has advised Bernard Coard, the murderer of Prime Minister Maurice Bishop, Radovan Karadzic, the indicted Bosnian Serbian war criminal, and the Rwandan pastor who is accused of telling Tutsis to hide in his church and then summoning Hutus to massacre them, and then leading killing squads.  His latest client- Saddam.

Natural Disasters:

Katrina

Hurricane Katrina was the topic of concern for most of the year ending 2005.  There remains much to do in the rebuilding, but the human spirit will not be quenched until all damaged areas are restored.

Medicine:

I’d like to leave behind those who have forgotten their Hippocratic oath- and killed slowly and deliberately Terri Schiavo.  Add to this list all the murders of babies for 2005

Economy:

High gas prices- "As you know, the government takes 40 percent of what you make.  The other 60 percent, of course, taken by the gas stations."  - Jay Leno

Petrol prices took an enormous jump this last year and everything from hurricanes to the war was blamed for it -interesting how oil companies’ profits surged isn’t it?

Sports:

Illegal drug enhancing use.

On March 17th, 2005, Palmeiro testified during a hearing on Capitol Hill to examine the use of steroids in professional baseball.  Hearing of the rampant use of steroids saddens many fans, but evidently, steroid use has long been a problem not only in baseball, but within the sports world at large.

I do suppose, just as McGwire stated, “he was not here to talk about the past, but to be positive and talk about the present and the future,” that that was a  wise saying.  As we move forward in 2006 and beyond, may all sports players put behind them the use of illegal drugs.

Looking forward:

These mentioned are but just a tip of the iceberg that I would like to bid adieu too, the true list of "forgettables" would be too long to mention.

Alas, though as 2006 has taken her debut we have John Kerry threatening to run in ’08, and we already have natural disasters occurring in Oklahoma, Texas, and California.  All proving that overall things do not really change.  We have our problems and dilemmas in this country and with this world.  Whether the angst is caused by a thoughtless political gainer, or a natural disaster there are many things we all would like to leave at the ending of each year.

Perhaps though, as we bid certain irritants adieu, we first need to recall and study why these things occurred and honestly ask ourselves how we can do better next time around so at the year ending in 2006 our lists will all be shorter.

ShopGirl VS. ShopBoy

 By K Marsala

Between the battle of the sexes, it has been reported that women know how to shop and men do not have a clue.  Women, with their plastic cards in hand, appear to be able to out shop their boyfriends and husbands, and as consumers they seemed to have mastered the ability of always buying that ‘perfect gift’ for someone.

With very little polling data or scientific investigation, how can such claims be made?  Is the realm of procuring items only relegated to the fairer sex or is there more to men’s abilities to accomplish the feat of shopping than women think?  According to some girlfriends and wives, their male partners are totally inept consumers.  They feel that men in general cannot shop and do not even desire to understand how to shop.

Michelle Courtright Bjork owner of Romeo Shops- http://www.romeoshops.com- whose slogan is-  “because guys can’t shop”, has designed a shopping website set up to help the male pick, compare, purchase and even wrap his chosen gift for his lovely lady.  Due to her quippy slogan though she has received all kinds of hate mail because people are claiming that she is reinforcing incorrect stereotypes of men. Now, I do not think Michelle is reinforcing any incorrect or negative stereotypes, perhaps we have all just become over sensitive politically correct boobs, her slogan is clever, eye catching and funny.  After talking to her, I feel she is playing a bit tongue in cheek and using her business smarts to offer a way for busy men to shop easily for their women.  Besides why should the slogan upset anyone chances are the same people who are offended by Romeo Shops slogan think Homer Simpson is a riot and doh he is.  Homer could not find his way around a Victoria’s Secret store to purchase Marge a thong unless a donut was tied to it.

One analysis conducted by marketing professor, Katherine Harris, of Wellesley's Babson College, has made a study out of "holiday shopping behavior." In an editorial released from TownOnline.com Harris states that, "market research shows that male shoppers want to get in and out of stores quickly." Harris goes on to state that, "Men feel stuck when shopping with women and appreciate a place to sit, wait and even watch TV!” Adding to this Harris stated, “If tagging along, best to steer them to 'man friendly' departments like electronics."   Well professor of marketing or not speaking as a female and for most of my female friends- we want to “get in and out of stores” just as quickly. We as women too feel “stuck” when we have to go shopping for certain items that our male counterparts are thrilled to spend hours searching, comparing, handling, and finally buying. We like to have a place to sit, wait, and even watch TV as well.

Could it be that shopping has nothing to do with gender, but more to do with individual personalities?  I happen to love shopping for electronics, and purses all within moments of each other.  I have a guy friend who just loves to shop for silk ties and peruse sporting goods stores.  We both just like to get in there though, exam, compare prices and quality and leave so we can go and enjoy our new found items.  As well, when we shop together we give each other a respectful time limit of hanging out as we each may shop for our own delights- about an hour or so- after that we say, “Hey I am going to go get a coffee and wait for you till you get done.”  That way neither of us feels pressured to ‘just hurry up’- we get to sit, relax, and enjoy a Starbucks while waiting on the other shopper.

Perhaps we as women have just thought we were better at shopping and perhaps not all men have reached the zenith of proficiency at abusing their credit cards yet. Lest we forgetwomen used to think they were the only ones who could cook (Emeril Lagasse), design fashion (Tom Ford), and cut/style hair (Jonathan Antin)hmmm maybe we had better take a look again.

Men are taking to the idea of shopping and they are shopping smarter, and more expertly than they ever have before.  With the advent of women entering the workforce by large numbers certain imbalances were going to be forced to switch and now men have to learn how to shop and many have very well.  Not only are they learning but also, they are actually enjoying the hunt, the comparing, and the discovery of pleasure found in pleasing the recipients of their gifts.

Sure, there are still a few Neanderthals dragging their knuckles along the ground and screaming as the beat their hairy chests- “I hate shopping!” but the face of shopping is changing.  Men are savvier, and more apt to become quite proficient at whatever challenges we women lay before them.  So be careful ladies, your man may just become the next “Diva Maven” of shopping.  Moreover, this is one lady who finds a man who is able to shop, cook, design his wardrobe, use a table saw and watch baseball very appealing indeed.

Katrina and the Seiches
Current Events/Kerry L. Marsala/www.therant.us

September 13, 2005 - It certainly was not long before the blame game over response time to hurricane Katrina began to flow. Not surprising, the allegations given have amounted to nothing but divisive accusations.  All created to further the agenda seekers who continually want to divide Americans.

As the over filled bowl, called New Orleans, seiched back and forth many hoped the levees would withstand the sloshing, but alas the waters broke forth and flooding devastated a beautiful area of America.  Now, what we have is nothing but toxic waters swirling around- bringing death, stench, and destruction.  Our hearts are heavy and we grieve with those who have lost so much.

However, when the levee of the extreme left sprang forth its toxicity of thought most people did not feel drawn to their cacophonous calls, rather most found any mode of transportation to get away from the likes of those who espouse divisive things to segregate our country.

Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and Kayne West will not be the only ones to widen their cracks of squirting leaks before they spring into full-fledged idiocy of racism being the proponent behind a lack of immediate response to an historical catastrophe.

When Sean Penn and his leaky boat visited New Orleans he cried, “There are people dying and (the U.S. government is) not putting the boats in the water. I think that's criminal negligence. I don't think anybody ever anticipated the criminal negligence of the Bush administration in this situation."  Pearce Bronson spilled his liquid of disdain about our government to the French at the Deauville Film Festival, “This man called President Bush has a lot to answer for. I don't know if this man is really taking care of America. This government has been shameful."  Bill Maher and Michael Moore continue their overflow of seepage that it is all due to global warming.  Moore goes so far to claim that Bush is to blame for the hurricane because he failed to submit Kyoto to another losing vote.  (The Senate disposed of the treaty 1995 to nothing in the 1999 vote.) (www.newsmax.com)

Maybe Eliza Doolittle was right, “Hurricanes hardly happen”

Mr. Penn, we appreciate your donation but why do some of you find it necessary to speak when you should just remain silent and write a check?  This is not the time for finger pointing and political bashing, it is time to refrain from spewing your opinions, and help the survivors survive.

In the ensuing days ahead, there will be more attention seeking gurgles of sewage flowing imbecilic rhetoric towards President Bush, the war on terror, global warming and in general, anything else that can be blamed.   The catastrophe of the floodwaters and the questions of actions taken have nothing to do with skin color, global warming, or economics.  Nevertheless, it always seems to make certain people feel better to accuse others of not caring about the poor, or of being racist, or of neglecting our environment.

Could this horrid atrocity have been prevented?  Would a modern levee system have stopped the flooding?  The levee broke within a spot on a canal that had received more attention and shoring up than many other spots in the region.  According to Shea Penland, director of the Pontchartain Institute for Environmental Studies at the University of New Orleans, that break was particularly surprising given that it was “along a section that was just upgraded.  It did not have an earthen levee," Dr. Penland said. "It had a vertical concrete wall several feel thick."  (http://www.nytimes.com/2005/09/01/national/nationalspecial/01levee.html)

Was it just a matter of time before the coastal wetlands succumbed to what naturally has been taking place for decades?  Since the 1930s, when levee building was launched sincerely, Louisiana has lost a million acres of its coastal wetlands.  As well, Louisiana faces the loss of another 640,000 additional acres -- an area the size of Rhode Island -- by 2050.  A recent study based on satellite measurement released in May established that the wetlands area to be sinking at a half-inch to two-inches a year as of 1995. (http://www.techcentralstation.com/090205F.html

If certain far-left radicals would plug their gushing valves for a few minutes and put time into studying the facts they would find a different story.  According to Lt. Gen Carl Strock, the level of funding wouldn’t have really made any difference in this case.  Whether the following project of upgrading the levees to withstand a level 3 hurricane (Katrina was a 4 plus) had been fully completed, in his opinion based on the intensity of the storm the, “flooding of the business district and the French Quarter would have still taken place." (http://www.techcentralstation.com/090205F.html

What we need to question is not who is to blame for the great loss of life, culture, and beauty- what this event demands is- if we are going to reside upon coastal wetlands that are sinking, we need to take certain measures to prevent future catastrophic events.  We need solutions, not finger pointing, not more red tape, not more bureaucracy, and not more divisive political pontificating.   We must place into action safety measures to keep future generations safe. Later, after we care for the displaced citizens, if Congress desires to still investigate who did or did not do what quickly enough- then deal with it.  Meanwhile stop sowing racial discord amongst our nation.

Katrina was a hurricane, a powerful monster of nature.  No one sent Katrina towards Mississippi and Louisiana that day and no one influenced the development of a storm to become a category four plus.  The future investigations need to look at certain levels of government and the layers of complex economics and infrastructure; this is what must be examined.  Then the American public needs to be educated as to how our response systems work and who is to be on the ground first in an emergency.

Will we understand eventually that certain local plans were lacking in their execution?  Yes, we will.  Local governments are first responders and as witnessed on national television, New Orleans and her citizens had and are suffering greatly due to the lack of proper implementation of emergency responses by local and state offices.

We will learn from this and we may come to understand why the last sixty years of political party rule and its influences over the south have contributed to a majority of complex problems from infrastructure lacking, to inexcusable economic poverty.

In fact, maybe that is where Congress needs to begin their investigation

It‘s Time for the Democrats to Serve the Divorce Papers

 By: K Marsala

By now, the name Cindy Sheehan has become synonymous with far leftist notables such as Michael Moore, Maxine Waters, John Conyers, Howard Dean, and organizations like MoveOn.org, Code Pink, Crawford Peace House, and Air America

Cindy Sheehan, an American mom who tragically lost her son a year ago. Cindy an American mom, who after meeting with President Bush last year remarked, "I now know he's sincere about wanting freedom for the Iraqis. I know he's sorry and feels some pain for our loss. And I know he's a man of faith."  Cindy, an American mom living in the land that promises us the right to change our minds and to speak our minds.  Cindy, an American mom who was used by the worst of those who defile the name Democrat.

In our country, the two main political entities have been the Republicans and the Democrats.  Over the course of political history, there have been some rotten people in both political bodies.  There have been those who have spied, coerced, committed perjury, and resigned from their positions on high.  There have been those who have held office that have brought great shame upon our political system and reflected a depraved disregard for themselves, their cabinet, and their country.

However, in the case of Cindy Sheehan, those who have used this unstable bereaved woman they have taken the prize for being the oozing pervasive scum of our political history.

Anyone who has followed the news over Cindy Sheehan’s loss of her son (an adult who decided to join the military in 2000 and then re-enlist for a second tour.  Tragically, he was killed while volunteering for a rescue mention outside Sadr City) felt the pain of this parent, just as we have for other parents who have lost their loved ones.  Those who believe in freedom admire, appreciate, and have a deep respect for all of those who continually make the ultimate sacrifice for all.

Most Americans do not have a problem with those who are anti-war, nor for those who question our involvement in the war on terror. The majority of American’s and our President are not “pro-war” they despise war, but due to the evidences given, they see no other alternatives if we are to survive as a nation and gain a foothold in our future against terrorism.  Ask yourselves, when has any president of the United States ever gleefully spoken a word that they cannot wait to send our men and women over and have them murdered by terrorists?  It mourns this country greatly when our service people or innocent bystanders are murdered by those who hate the ideals of freedom.  This is why Americans understood the pain Cindy Sheehan experienced when she first learned her son had given himself for our freedoms.

For the haters of America who cannot seem to recall history and why we have reached the point that we can no longer ignore the terrorists abroad, let us recall history for a moment:

Ãƒâ€šÃ‚·        1968 Bobby Kennedy was shot and killed by a Muslim male extremist between the ages of 17 and 40.

Ãƒâ€šÃ‚·        In 1972 at the Munich Olympics, athletes were kidnapped and massacred by Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40.

Ãƒâ€šÃ‚·        In 1979, the US embassy in Iran was taken over by Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40.

Ãƒâ€šÃ‚·        During the 1980's a number of Americans were kidnapped in Lebanon by Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40.

Ãƒâ€šÃ‚·        In 1983, the US Marine barracks in Beirut was blown up by Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40.

Ãƒâ€šÃ‚·        In 1985 the cruise ship Achilles Lauro was hijacked and a 70-year-old American passenger was murdered and thrown overboard in his wheelchair by Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40.

Ãƒâ€šÃ‚·        In 1985 TWA flight 847 was hijacked at Athens, and a US Navy diver trying to rescue passengers was murdered by Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40.

Ãƒâ€šÃ‚·        In 1988, Pan Am Flight 103 was bombed by Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40.

Ãƒâ€šÃ‚·        In 1993 the World Trade Center was bombed the first time by Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40.

·        In 1998, the US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania were bombed by Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40.

Ãƒâ€šÃ‚·        On 9/11/01, four airliners were hijacked; two were used as missiles to take out the World Trade Centers and, of the remaining two, one crashed into the US Pentagon and the other was diverted and crashed by the passengers. Thousands of people were killed by Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40.

Ãƒâ€šÃ‚·        In 2002 the United States fought a war in Afghanistan against Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40.

Ãƒâ€šÃ‚·        In 2002 reporter Daniel Pearl was kidnapped and murdered by Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40.

We have been at war long before most of us ever wanted to admit it or deal with it.

Cindy Sheehan in her bereavement fell victim to those who are not worthy of their political party- yes, there are those who do not deserve the privileges so many have fought and died for.  Their continual irrational bombardment of abuse has left stains of excrement upon what those who have fought and died for so bravely.  They have shown their black-hearted disdain for our freedoms through their hate America first in their films, books, articles, speeches and their contemptuous use of a woman overwrought by her loss. Those who used Sheehan to promote their agenda of anti-American rhetoric should be ostracized and asked to make their political home elsewhere.  Their abuse of Sheehan is loathsome.  This bereaving mother-needed kindness, comfort, and counseling, not what the derelict giddy orc feasting far leftist did to her soul.  Their hatred for America and for what we stand for as a nation- has turned these despisers of America into such vile creatures of putrescence that they have become an embarrassment to the rest of the Democratic Party.  How disgusting these “Hate America First” individuals and groups have become, to use a distraught mother who has lost her son.

This minority of indecent human beings have pushed their hating agenda against America too far.  There is a point when the line is crossed.  There is a point that comes to every group of people, to every establishment; to every party when there must be a cut off from those who are bringing their evil ilk of disturbing revulsion upon the good name of its association.  Does the Democratic Party really want the majority of Americans or the world to gaze upon them as being these despicable monsters of repugnance?

The majority of those who sit under the name Democrat are hard-working, family raising, parent loving, patriotic citizens who love this land of ours.  They may be soft in comparison to those in the Republican Party on topics such as healthcare and fiscal spending, but they are not those who use bereaved women to do their dirty deeds of turning a nation against its military.  Those who have used Cindy Sheehan are contemptible creatures and they have brought reproach upon the Democratic Party.

Perhaps there has never been a time in American history when a party in order to survive, as a legitimate alternative in politics, needed to literally detach itself unequivocally from an ideal of such poison as this.  The Democratic Party, if it is to survive, needs to amputate the gangrene that has attached itself to its patriotic name.  It is time for the Democratic Party to serve her divorce papers.

Sewer Art Becomes 'The Art of Law'

Written by K.L. Marsala
Friday, August 05, 2005

Truthfully, art (and what some refer to as art) lies within the eye of the beholder.  From time to time, we all have scratched our heads at what is termed art, whether it has been a lump of clay, a twist of metal, a bottle full of urine with a cross-placed inside, or an artist’s rendition of how he despises our country.  All have been considered art by someone’s tastes and all people are guaranteed their rights to express their points of view by the United States Constitution.

Constitutionally speaking, we are all allowed to depict our own views.  We are free to use an artist’s palette, the stroke of a pen, or the notes of a song, but are we as taxpayers required to support the display of all forms of art?

Recently in the state of California, an exhibit of “art” constructed by lawyers was presented to the public.  Being very reluctant to give this any more credibility than it deserves, I am finding that there is a need to speak out against those who batter the freedoms we all so richly enjoy.

No one would deny lawyer Stephen S. Pearcy’s  work of “art” called T’anks to Mr. Bush the constitutional rights to espouse disdain for the Bush Administration, the Republican Party, cops, the “fanatical patriotism”  felt by Americans post 9/11, SUVs, the conservative monopoly of the media, and the list goes on.  But why, when we are in fanatical upheaval over the displaying of the Ten Commandments at our local court houses, did California Attorney General Bill Lockyer (an official sponsor of the display of anti-American, anti-military, and anti-Semitic “art,”) give his blessing, as indicated in a press release issued on July 12, 2005 by the California Arts Council?  The display was set up within a taxpayer-funded entity; do the taxpayers have any say as to how they want public funded units decorated?

The news release quoted Lockyer stating: “It is an honor to co-host this powerful exhibit and display the talent of our legal community.  Creative expression stimulates freedom of thought and appreciation for diversity, and opens new windows onto the world in which we live.  The collected works of these fine artists--and lawyers--achieve these worthwhile objectives with style and beauty.”

Art with “style and beauty”?  Now that is subjective.

Since California taxpayers are being coerced into sponsoring this art, we must ask ourselves if an artist had depicted the Gay Pride Flag being flushed down the toilet, or a banner depicting African American Pride being sucked down, would that have been called “worthwhile objectives with style and beauty?”  Somehow, I doubt it.  The call and outrage of racially antagonistic artwork would be denounced, as it should be.  So why then is it okay to denigrate our country, the military, and the Jewish people?

Throughout the ages, the medium of art has been used to protest, praise, raise questions, and move us to feel.  That is what art is all about.   But in our outward display of dissatisfaction with our homeland, or in our differing opinions over religious viewpoints, or our disdain for a certain sect of people, should it be sustained without consent of the taxpayer and funded at the taxpayer’s expense?

Unequivocally, the answer is a resounding NO!  The laws written by our forefathers would validate and justify the premise that the American taxpayers should not be coerced into funding something they have not given voice to.

Mr. Pearcy can paint as many canvases and he desires with disdain for his country, his military, his police force, his environment, and his disregard for those who appreciate this country and show daily our patriotism for her.  He is free to display them at any privately owned land or privately funded function.  California Attorney General Lockyer can ogle and espouse his insight of appreciation for what he terms artwork that is “worthwhile” and filled with “objective style and beauty” until he has ecstatically filled his senses.  But he cannot take the taxpayers' hard earned monies and oblige them into the support of a taxpayer-funded structure.

It is time, Americans, that we speak up for our rights.  This country is supposed to have representative government:  a government for the people by the people.  It is time that we stand up and say no more to the hypocrisy and double speak.  If we in this country founded by our forefathers on biblical principles, cannot even display one of the greatest works of arts (the Ten Commandments) inside or within the surrounding grounds of publicly funded institutions, then this is hypocrisy.

Enough of the “Sewer Art”!  Keep your waste of what you call “art” off our tax-funded establishments!   Just like most artists do, find other venues that will carry your criticisms of disgust or accolades of praise for the things you either loathe or adore.

The American taxpayers are done with supporting what we do not agree with, and we are stating unequivocally that we have our rights too.  California’s public display of “The Art of Law” has rallied those who say.  "No more treading upon our constitutional rights.  There is an art of law, and it is time we started following it."

Enforce Our Laws

http://www.thedavidallenshow.com/youropeds/20050726.marsala.kl/view

 K L Marsala

Illegal immigration continues to exacerbate itself in Arizona and all across our US borders.  Only seven months into 2005 and in the state of Arizona, there have been over 700 illegal aliens picked up by Border Patrol and 170 deaths due to the extreme conditions across the barren wasteland that lies between Arizona and the land of the illegal aliens.

The latest numbers show an alarming economic impact, and criminal force within the state of Arizona and our nation. Look at the facts: crime rising, homicides up, loss of American jobs, tax evasion (illegal aliens who are employed are paid under the table), destruction of our Healthcare System, over 1 billion dollars to educate children of illegal aliens and we wonder why we have been hit economically so hard.  In addition to the financial cost, our continued open door policy has been allowing more terrorists to infiltrate our country.

Arizona state legislators are attempting to implement a plan to stop the traffic flow, but they feel they have been finding nothing but roadblocks set up by Governor Napolitano.  Napolitano professes to be diligently working to stop the illegal aliens from crossing our borders, but there are certain legislators who are questioning her record of accomplishments.  State Representative Pearce and Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas view the governor’s  vetoing bills to halt illegal alien crossings and the closed-door summit held recently in Flagstaff, Arizona (that she did not attend) to be showing an indifference to solving this imperative security issue.

According to State Representative Russell Pearce, the following are bills Arizona’s Governor has vetoed:

SB1306 (Pearce) Authorizes peace officers to investigation, apprehend, detain or remove aliens in the enforcement of United States immigration laws.  Already authorized under federal law and April 1st a landmark decision by the U.S. Supreme Court razed any concerns on this issue and made it clear that law enforcement can enforce immigration laws.  Any decision by local law enforcement not to enforce these laws is simply political on the part of local politicians, Police Chiefs, and Sheriffs.

SB1118 (Pearce) Voter registration; provisional ballot; address, implements the voting-related provisions of Prop. 200

SB1167 (Pearce) Establishes English as the official language of Arizona and requires that official actions be conducted in English and requires the State to do all it can to enhance and promote English as the Official Language.

SB1402 (Pearce) Part of the initially vetoed budget bills (was a separate bill was decided to put it in the budget) that appropriates ,700 from the HURG fund to establish procedures to determine whether or not the information and documents provided by a person applying for a driver license are fraudulent.  As a result of a federal sting we found hundreds of documents being submitted to MVD were accepted and licenses were issued and Homeland Security issued a warning of severe concern to national security and on this issue and yet our Governor still vetoed the bill.

HB2030 (Pearce/Boone) Requires that recipients of certain state-funded services are present legally in the Unites States.  Also requires the agencies that provide these services to report on the number of people who applied to participate in the programs and the number who were not eligible for those programs due to their illegal status.

HB2709 (Jones/Weiers) Requires DOA to contract for a private prison facility to be located in Mexico to house Mexican National prisoners.

SB1186 (Martin) Incorporates into statue Prop. 200 requirement for proof of United States citizenship when registering to vote and stipulates the information submitted as evidence of citizenship does not become public record.

SB1511 (Martin) Prohibits law enforcement of other government agencies, commissions, boards or districts from accepting identification document such as a Matricular Consular care unless they are issued by a political subdivision, Indian Tribe, state or federal authority.  Against warnings by the FBI, Homeland Security as unreliable and a serious risk to national security.

Rep. Pearce points out as well that, Governor Napolitano, “has been engaged on fighting us on every issue including Prop. 200 (a citizens' initiative to require proof of citizenship to register to vote, photo ID to vote, and proof of eligibility for non-federally mandated public benefits i.e. welfare)  and after it passed overwhelmingly she is still trying to stop its implementation.  Remember this Governor stated early on she believes illegal aliens should have driver licenses.”

In turn, according to the immigration strategies offered by Governor Napolitano, there will be a development of a squad team of 12 Arizona Department of Public Safety Officers who will be trained by 12 U. S. Border Patrol Agents.  Their sole purpose will be to focus on enforcing laws particular to the vicious practice of human and drug trafficking.  It will also work with local law enforcement agencies to lessen the number of catch and release incidents statewide. Napolitano plans to have the squad run for one year and then evaluate it at the end of the calendar year to decide if it was effective in cracking down on this problem.

In addition, under the Governor’s direction, the Arizona Office of Homeland Security will provide ,00 that will allow the Task Force to expand to include the DPS, the Arizona Department of Transportation Inspector General and the Motor Vehicle Department.  Right now only Arizona Liquor License and Control serves on the Fraudulent ID Task Force.  Many know that fraudulent identifications are a frequent tool utilized too often to get illegal aliens employment and terrorist commonly uses them so that they move about freely. To solve this danger to our society let us call upon all of the state representatives, Congress and our President to end this destructive time bomb.  To begin with, we have laws on the books that must be enforced.  Our government has not been following the letter of the law,  according to 8 USC Section 1324a: "Any person who knowingly hires/harbors/transports any illegal alien is guilty of a felony punishable by 10 years jail + fine per illegal alien + forfeiture of the vehicle or property used to commit the crime"..  We must prosecute all corporations and business that knowingly hire illegal aliens.  Without jobs to come to, illegal aliens will begin to find ways to come and work here legally, either with a temporary work permit or by going through the process of becoming a legal citizen.  As well, according to 8 USC Section 1324a any person or persons found transporting illegal aliens must pay the penalty.  Without transportation, illegal aliens will find it harder to cross our borders and they will not be dropped off in the middle of a desert and left to die.

Solving the illegal alien problem has within it many facets, but enforcing the laws already written would be a step towards progress.  Then open discussions, forums, and speedy implementation of new laws will work in correspondence with the existing laws and help solve our crisis.

1441, Exit Strategy and Globalization

K L Marsala

The selling points of acting against the terrorist in Iraq were presented to the world on the premise of Iraq having WMD’s. Along with the blatant evidences held over from the previous history of committing heinous acts against humanity.   These proved to be the main selling points to rally the public at large to go to war against terrorism- starting with Afghanistan and then on into Iraq.  Whether or not there were WMD’s or Saddam Hussein was directly tied to, 9/11 is not really even the question to ponder anymore.  We know that the former administrations believed them to be so, and we began debating long before President George W. Bush appeared, on what we were going to do with this mounting crisis in the Middle East.  So to point fingers of whether or not the WMD’s were true or false or Saddam was directly linked is but a moot point. President Clinton believed, President Bush Sr. believed, President Chirac believed, many in Congress and the Senate believed, the current administration believed. On top of this according to Jack Yan, a student of international law and publisher/owner of Lucire Global Fashion Magazine and author of two books (Beyond Branding and Typography and Branding), points out, “in George Shultz's analysis of resolution 1441 the Iraq was totally justified.  Tony Blair used a similar argument in Parliament. Every law has a punishment, and invasion was this resolution. If the other members of the Security Council did not expect it, they should never have passed resolution 1441. Not acting makes the Council look impotent, so in effect, the US and the UK saved the possibility of the entire United Nations collapsingI really believe that.  Pity Kofi doesn't realize it.”

When one truly studies, what historians and military strategist know about this time in history- clarity becomes so obvious.  Cynical as it may sound, as we move forward in time, it would seem the explanation of- why we are doing what we are doing- has been laid open right before us.  Globalization has been at the forefront of politics for many years, actually for decades.  It seems globalization is an inevitable entity that we really cannot stop.  As economies grow, along with technology how do we keep them separate and not have them collide internationally with one another?  Technology has made it easier and faster to fulfill international transactions both through trade and financial connections. Global markets are offering greater opportunities for people to tap into.  Globalization means we all can have access to capital flows, technology, cheaper imports, and larger export markets. But globalization has its downfalls and one is- not all will necessarily receive the benefits of increased efficiency. All countries must be prepared to embrace the policies needed, especially in the cases of poorer countries; they will need the support of the international community.  In order to accomplish this in a timely and orderly manner, there has to be stability.

Overall most people are not global supporters nor are they supporters of a one-world government- most would prefer we stay sovereign, but is that a possibility any longer?  It would seem the snowball has been steadily gaining speed and is running down the hill to become globalization. We do not appear to be an autonomous nation any longer.  We have been sliding down this hill too long and the speed gained cannot be stopped.

If this is inevitable, wouldn’t we want to be at the top of the snowball?  It would appear already that several nations are vying for the position.  Who will finish out the outer crust?  Will it be the United States along with its allies, will it be a section of socialist Europe and its followers, or will it be the terrorists? If we were moving globally, then would there be anything wrong with cheering for the United States and her allies to be at the helm of directing the paths of democracy?  Quite possibly, it could prove to be our own undoing, but again ask yourself how can we stop something that is already in motion. Will we fight for king of the hill or will we be squished under the snow pack?  Wouldn’t we all rather have the captain of the ship be a believer in equal rights for all men?  On the other hand, would the likes of a
